BIRMINGHAM, AL (April 22, 2017) - With an 8-under second round Florida is one day away from winning the SEC Women's Championship at Greystone Golf & Country Club.

The Gators, 12-under, will be carrying a moderately comfortable five shot lead over Georgia into the final round. Behind the 7-under Bulldogs are Arkansas in third at 6-under, first round leading Texas A&M at 4-under and Tennessee in fifth at 3-under.

Thus far the low Gator is reigning SEC medalist winner Maria Torres. Currently, Torres is two off the individual pace at 6-under and tied for third. On Saturday Torres posted a bogey-free 4-under 68 that included a strong finish of two birdies in the last three holes.

Overall Torres birdied four-times during the second round.

Three additional Gators are in the top-15 of the standings; Taylor Tomlinson (T5; -1), Karolina Vlckova (T11; +2) and Kelly Grassel (T11; +2).

One day after three players shared the individual lead there is a new player leading the way and it is Georgia's Harang Lee. Using a 5-under 67, Lee reached 8-under and she will carry a one shot lead into Sunday's final round.

Lee bogeyed just once Saturday while carding six birdies. Following a 1-over front nine, Lee birdied four-times on the way home with the circles coming on Nos. 10, 11, 16 and 18.

Anna Newell (Tennessee) is in second place at 7-under, Torres and first round co-leader Katelyn Dambaugh (South Carolina) are tied for third at 6-under while Maddie Szeryk (Texas A&M), 18-hole co-leader Alana Uriell (Arkansas), Tomlinson and first round co-leader Alexandra Farnsworth (Vanderbilt) are tied for fifth at 4-under.

ROUND ONE RECAP

The first round leaderboard at the SEC Women's Golf Championship is a crowded one, but so far Texas A&M is leading the way. Playing at Greystone Golf & Country Club the Aggies put together a 6-under first round and they currently are the leaders by a shot.

Arkansas is in second place at 5-under, Florida is a shot further back in third at 4-under, in fourth place it is South Carolina at 2-under while in a tie for fifth at 1-under are Georgia, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.

Defending champion Alabama struggled on Friday and they are tied for 10th at 7-over.

The Aggies were led Friday by Maddie Szeryk, who at 3-under is tied for fourth. Szeryk bogeyed the 2nd hole to fall to 1-over but she rebounded with 3rd, 4th and 9th hole birdies to reach 2-under. An additional bogey in the 14th hole dropped Szeryk a shot before she bounced back again with 15th and 16th hole birdies.

Texas A&M also saw Bianca Fabrizio (T8; -2) and Courtney Dow (T12; -1) turn in top-15 performances.

Presently three players --Katelyn Dambaugh of South Carolina, Arkansas' Alana Uriell and Alexandra Farnsworth of Vanderbilt-- are sharing the individual advantage at 4-under.

Dambaugh birdied five-times and bogeyed once during her round, with her best run come in the form of three straight birdies on Nos. 6-8.

Uriell overcame an early double-bogey to reach the lead with six birdies, including four as part of a flawless 4-under 32.

For Farnsworth her day was bogey-free with birdies coming on the 4th, 7th, 14th and 17th holes.

Overall 26 players are even-par or better and within three shots of the lead. Defending medalist champion Maria Torres of Florida is sharing seventh after a 2-under 70.
