J.D. Anderson takes the Iowa Mid-Amateur Title

CEDAR FALLS, IA (May 9, 2017) - J.D. Anderson broke free of a three-way tie at the start of the day with a final round 5-under 67 to win the Iowa Mid-Amateur by four shots.
Playing at Beaver Hills Country Club Anderson came out of the gates firing with an eagle on the par-5 2nd hole and a birdie on the 3rd hole to quickly reach 4-under and the lead for good.
By now Anderson was off and running and with most of the field moving backwards he was able to play a mostly stress free round. He did bogey twice during Tuesday's final round but he also birdied an additional four-times.
Taking second place was Dusty Drenth who fired the round of the tournament, a 6-under 66, to finish 2-under and four off the pace. Drenth bogeyed just once on Tuesday while birdieing seven-times. His best stretch of golf came from Nos. 6-11 when he birdied five-times.
First round co-leader Dennis Bull, Kevin Ault and Scott Hart all tied for third at 1-over to round out the top-five of the standings.
The final member of the first round lead, Niel Doak finished in a tie for 18th after a difficult final round.
SENIOR DIVISION
The Senior Division title went to Joe Palmer. Following a first round 75 Palmer closed with a 2-under 70 to post a 1-over winning tally.
During the final round Palmer birdied five-times and bogeyed three-times.
Curtis Holck and Jay Gregory shared second at 5-over, Ron Peterson was fourth at 6-over while Bill Watson and Dan Dalziel took fifth at 7-over.
