Eight teams remain at Musgrove Mill Golf Club
CLINTON, SC (May 26, 2017) - The first round of Match Play began this morning at Musgrove Mill with 32 teams squaring off in sixteen different Four-Ball matches.
Stroke Play medalists Brent Delahoussaye and Michael Maness were in the morning’s first match off number one tee and fell 2&1 to the team of Jeremy Revis and Duane Barnes. The duo of Revis and Barnes secured the final spot in the match play portion of the event after a birdie on the third hole of a nine for three playoff Thursday evening. The round of thirty-two also saw one half of 2016’s winning team advance. Bryce Howell along with new partner and fellow Furman Paladin Connor Bruns defeated Bob Cook and Kurt Waldthausen 2 up.
In the afternoon matches, the 32-seeded team of Revis and Barnes continued to impress by beating Robert Lutomski and Yancey Johnson with a 40-foot birdie putt on the 19th hole, the only extra hole match of the day. Bruns and Howell continued their march towards the finals by beating Jarrett Grimes and Bryan Tucker 3&2. Jamie Lightsey and Tyler Tucker kept the three-seed alive with a 3&2 victory over former Champions Walt Todd and Brandon Truesdale. The four seed, Cody Clepper and Peyton Shore, won their final two holes of the day to beat Lee Palms and Wesley Harden 1 up.

ABOUT THE
South Carolina Four-Ball
The Four Ball Championship is a great attraction as
it has become the only Match Play event that the
South Carolina Golf Association conducts. With 60
teams starting play, after two days of stroke play
qualifying, 32 teams will advance to match play to
square off against each other until there is only one
team left.
By virtue of being one of the few Match Play events
available in South Carolina, this is a great
opportunity to play in a format that used to
dominate
tournament golf.
