WOODRIDGE, IL (July 2, 2017) - A year after finishing tied for third and one shot out of a playoff Raymond Knoll has won the Zigfield Troy Open.

The recent Iowa graduate finished the par-3 tournament 7-under and as the five-stroke winner following tallies of 50-51.

At Iowa, Knoll was a two-time second team All-Big 10 selection and also finished his career by being named to the Division I PING All-Midwest Regional Team three consecutive years.

Tres Steffey (-2) finished second, Andy Roderique (-1) and Chris Beyer (-1) shared third while Kirk Blakney (+1) and Michael Fastert (+1) tied for fifth.

Defending champion Kelly Grassel (+2) who just wrapped up her career at Florida finished in a tie for seventh.

“Bombers” need not apply. This is one tournament where precision iron accuracy and a sharp chipping and putting game are essential. Welcome to the famous Zigfield Troy Open, one of the premier Par- 3 golf tournaments in America.

The Par-3 tournament honors course founder Zigfield Troy and is one of the few Par-3 events anywhere that is run like a PGA Tour event or other professional tournaments. Golfers’ names are announced on the first tee prior to tee off. A huge scoreboard highlights everyone’s name, score for each round, plus totals and the round’s leaders – all done in handsome professional calligraphy.

ABOUT THE Zigfield Troy Open

A 36 hole stroke play event, entries are open to Professional or Amateur golfers with USGA handicap indexes not exceeding 24.4. Handicaps shall be certified by the entrant’s club official or Golf Professional. Open to men and women having attained 16 years of age by the start of the tournament. The Zigfield Troy Open Tournament Committee reserves the right to grant special exceptions to the above conditions.

Players will compete in 5 Divisions - Open Division, Women's, Senior’s (ages 55-64), Super Senior’s (65 and up) and High School. The overall champion wins the Zigfield Troy Straw Hat.
