AUSTIN, TX (July 3, 2017) - Late heroics were in order on Monday at the Firecracker Open hosted by Lions Municipal Golf Course.

Needing a birdie on the final hole to have a chance at reaching a playoff Jack Budde did just that and then a short time later he survived a playoff against 2010 winner Stratton Nolen to win the 2017 Firecracker Open.

Budde began the day two shots off the pace set by Nolen but a 2-under 69 in the final round brought him to 11-under and even with Nolen at the end of regulation.

The day got off to a slow start for Budde as he bogeyed the first hole and it wasn't until the second nine did he make his move. Budde started his rally with birdies on Nos. 10, 12 and 14. He then dropped a stroke on the 17th before rebounding with the 18th hole birdie.

Nolen, a senior at Oklahoma State, started the day 11-under and finished the day there after an even-par 71. On Monday Nolen, the 36-hole leader, twice got as low as 12-under but he was never able to sustain that mark.

Reid Davenport was third at 10-under while Brian Noonan and Jacob Sosa tied for fourth at 8-under.
