U.S. Am Notes: Interview with Canadian Mid-Am Garrett Rank

PACIFIC PALISADES, CA (August 15, 2017) - Garrett Rank (Elmira, ON, Canada) stopped for a quick interview on the range before his second round of stroke play qualifying for the 2017 U.S. Amateur.
The professional NHL hockey referee plays competitive amateur golf in his offseason and is currently the 4th ranked mid-amateur in the AmateurGolf.com Mid-amateur Rankings.
His most recent major tournament finish was 5th place in the prestigious Porter Cup tournament in Niagara Falls, NY. He was also the runner-up in last year's Sunnehanna Amateur and has won the Canadian Mid-Amateur three times in a row.
Rank called his first round at Riviera "one of the best rounds of tournament golf I've ever played".

US Amateur
The U.S. Amateur, the oldest USGA
championship, was first played in 1895 at
Newport Golf Club in Rhode Island. The
event,
which has no age restriction, is open to
those
with a Handicap Index of .4 (point four) or lower. It is
one
of 15 national championships conducted
annually by the USGA.
