Todd Family wins South Carolina Mid-Amateur Four Ball

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (August 20, 2017) - The uncle and nephew combination of Walter and Thomas Todd came from behind to take home the 23rd edition of the Mid-Amateur Four Ball Championship played at Prestwick Country Club in Myrtle Beach.

The side went out in three under par 33 and closed with a back nine of 32 including three straight birdies from Thomas Todd on holes 11 through 13. The final round 65 gave them a two day total of 131 and a two shot victory over their nearest competitors. This is the second "family" Championship for Walter Todd this year as he and son Neal captured the Father Son Championship earlier this summer.

The teams of Kelley/McCallister, Branyon/McCutcheon, Meldrum/Poole, and Culler/Lightsey all finished in a tie for second place at eleven under par 133.

The 2017 SCGA Mid-Amateur Four Ball Championship was played at the par 72 – 6,728 yard Prestwick Country Club. The field consisted of 58 two-man teams playing Best Ball format conducted over thirty six holes. The Mid-Amateur Four Ball Championship is in its 23rd year of existence.

ABOUT THE South Carolina Mid-Am Four-Ball

The Mid Am Four Ball is what we call a "working man's" event with participants over the age of 30 partnering up with a teammate and playing a 36 hole Four Ball event. The Mid Am Four Ball has historically been a very competitive event with a great atmosphere of fun and friendship.
