(August 29, 2017) - As August comes to a close (we can't believe it either!) we take a look back at some of the highlights from the final weekend of the month.
On Saturday the U.S. Senior Amateur got underway and after 36-holes at The Minikahda Club it was David Brown who had earned medalist honors. Match play began on Monday morning and of course we will have all the coverage until a champion is crowned.
Out west at the Utah Open BYU senior Patrick Fishburn blew the field away as he won the title in runaway style. The field at Riverside Country Club even included PGA Tour pro Zac Blair.
A little further out west to California the Los Angeles County Amateur Championship was held and it was Jonathan Saunders taking the title.
Last Friday also gave us a bit of a peak ahead as the first Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll of the year was released. Taking the preseason top-spot was Oklahoma State.
In addition, Friday saw Todd Fanning win the Canadian Mid-Amateur in dramatic fashion.
Staying with the international theme at the Irish Close Amateur Jaime Fletcher won the title.
Back stateside in Kansas Sion Audrain defended his title at the High Plains Amateur while in Nebraska at the state Four-Ball it was the duo of Dylan Heng and Lance Lawson winning in record setting fashion.
Finally at the Cuscowilla Four-Ball Championship the teams of Bo Burdette and Kane Whitehurst; Michael Standard and Rusty Strawn were named co-champions.
