SKOKIE, IL (October 9, 2017) - Big Ten rivals Penn State and Northwestern finished 5-under to share medalist honors at the Windon Memorial hosted by Evanston Golf Club.

Penn State was led by four players in the top-15; Charles Huntzinger (T5; -2), Ryan Davis (T8; -1), Ryan Dornes (T10; E) and Cole Miller (T13; +1). The victory for Penn State was their first of the year and it comes just about a month after they began their season with a 13th place finish at the Gopher Invitational.

Northwestern earned their share of the lead thanks to strong play from Everton Hawkins (T3; -3), Dylan Wu (T5; -2), Sam Triplett (T13; +1) and Ryan Lumsden (T17; +2).

For the Wildcats the win is also their first title of the year and it marks a drastic improvement from their first two results of the season, a tied for 13th showing at the Fighting Illini Invitational and a 10th place finish at the Marquette Intercollegiate.

Patrick Flavin of Miami (OH) earned co-medalist honors by finishing 4-under following rounds of 65-72-69. During his 5-under 65 to get the tournament started, Flavin birdied six-times, including four-times in a row while bogeying only once. The win for Flavin, a senior, marked his third win in his last four tournaments played.

Co-medalist Brendon Doyle of Indiana used rounds of 69-72-65 to earn his piece of the prize. Doyle's final round 5-under 65 was a career-best round and it included six birds and just a single dropped shot. Doyle's best stretch of golf came from Nos. 10-12 when he carded birdies on all three holes.

With the win Doyle became the first Hoosier to earn medalist honors since Jake Brown in April of 2016.

The individual top-five was rounded out by Hawkins and Lachlan Barker (Iowa State) in third at 3-under while Wu, Huntzinger and Alex Schaake (Iowa) shared fifth at 2-under.

Behind the two teams at the top came Indiana at 1-under in third, 5-over Iowa State took fourth while Marquette and Miami (OH) were fifth at 8-over.

Of Note: Princeton's Evan Quinn had a hole-in-one in the second round on the 202 yard par-3 4th. Quinn used a 5-iron.
