DALLAS, TX (October 24, 2017) - Cooper Dossey shot his third straight round in the 60s, capturing the individual title and leading Baylor University to a team championship at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate at Royal Oaks Country Club.
Dossey led a group of four Baylor University players finishing under par for the tournament, as the Bears completed a wire-to-wire 19-shot win.
Dossey (66-67-69=202) finished at 11 under par, four shots ahead of Andre Garcia of New Mexico. Braden Bailey (6 under), Matthew Perrine (4 under), and Garrett May (4 under) helped Baylor shoot 272-274-281=827, 25 under par.
Including individuals, Baylor has six players with top ten finishes.
The University of Arkansas was the distant runner-up at 846, 6 under par. Minnesota (4 under), Kent State (3 under) and Michigan (4 over) rounded out the top five.
Bailey finished tied for third with Nick Carlson of Michigan at 6-under 207, with Baylor individual Travis McInroe alone in fifth at 5 under. Perrine and May were tied for sixth, and another Baylor individual Colin Kober tied ninth at 3-under 210.
The tournament groupings were a departure from the typical format where each group features players from three different teams. At Royal Oaks, each group was a fivesome, with all five players on each team playing together.
