Coronado City: Tuulik Goes Wire-to-Wire

CORONADO, CA (November 12, 2017) - Christopher Tuulik (San Diego, CA) shot 66-67 to win the Coronado City Amateur Championship by four shots at Coronado Golf Course.

Tuulik, a 23-year-old former UNLV college golfer, grabbed a two-shot lead after his opening round, and doubled it by again shooting the day's low round on Sunday.

Cody Hall (Wildomar, CA) shot 70-67 to finish alone in second, while Daniel Lopez (Los Angeles, CA) was third at 69-70--139, six shots back.

Drew Cooper (Saint Helena, CA) was fourth at 140 while three golfers--Scotland Schmidt (San Diego, CA), Michael Wong (Hong Kong) and Chad Hambright (Lake Elsinore, CA)--tied for fifth at 141.

In the Senior Division, John Hoffman cruised to a six-shot win over Ken Kubis. Hoffman opened with a 69 to take a four-shot lead, then added a 73 for a 142 total.

Anthony Ventura and Kirk Rose tied for third at 149, while three seniors tied for fifth at 150: Daryl Dyte, Jon Reilly, and Chris Berra.

36-hole stroke play event with Open and Senior divisions. Must be at least 16 years of age with current amateur status. Max handicap 6.0. Played in memory of longtime Coronado GC Professional John Ruedi. Coronado GC is one of San Diego's most scenic golf courses -- with views of the bay and city skyline from famous Coronado Island.
