Marcus Beck got the win at Ocala Golf Club
OCALA, FL (March 4, 2018) - Marcus Beck (Tallahassee, FL) captured the Moot Thomas Invitational at Ocala Golf Club, shooting a final-round even-par 72 to finish 6 under par, one shot ahead of Robert Parmar (Fairhope, AL).
The tournament honors Moot Thomas, an Ocala native and FSGA Hall of Famer who had a lengthy and successful amateur career. Ocala Golf Club is where Moot learned the game, regularly competed and loved dearly.
Beck grabbed the lead with a 5-under 67 in the first round, and despite a solid 71 in the second round he was passed by Allen Peake (Macon, GA), who shot a 66 to get to 7 under par through two rounds.
Parmer also had a 66 in the second round and was well-positioned, in third place two shots behind Peake.
Steve Humphrey (Lexington, KY), who has had a good start to the season with a win at the Kingsway Senior and a T4 at the Gateway Senior, shot 71-69 and was in fourth, three shots back.
Scoring was higher in the final round, as only Brian Brown (Inverness, FL) was able to break 70, closing with a 69 to finish the tournament in sixth place.
