LAS VEGAS, NV (March 7, 2018) - With four players finishing inside the top-20 and all five players contributing throughout the week No. 7 Florida has won the Southern Highlands Intercollegiate for their second win of the season.
Playing at Southern Highlands Golf Club the Gators began the day in second place but were able to overcome the deficit with a 4-under final day that pushed them to 5-under and four clear of runner-ups No. 11 Texas Tech and two-time defending champion No. 14 USC who finished 1-under, UNLV was fourth at even-par while 1-over TCU took fifth.
The low Gator was junior Gordon Neale who finished 2-under in a tie for seventh. For Neale it was his fourth top-10 showing of the season. Neale combined rounds of 70-70-74.
Also finishing inside the top-20 for Florida were Chris Nido (T16; E), John Axelsen (T16; E) and Andy Zhang (T20; +2). The final Gator in the lineup was Alejandro Tosti (T38; +5) and despite struggling throughout the week he came up big in the final round with a 1-over 73 tally that counted as the fourth team score.
In the medalist race USC junior Justin Suh won his fourth event of the season. The win moved Suh into the No. 2 spot of the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Rankings behind Ole Miss' Braden Thornberry and one in front of Cal's Collin Morikawa who won yesterday at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate.
Suh tallied rounds of 68-70-70 to finish 8-under and two in front of second place finisher Harry Hall (UNLV) at 6-under, Stefano Mazzoli (TCU) and Clay Feagler (Pepperdine) shared third at 5-under and in fifth it was Brad Dalke (Oklahoma) at 4-under.
Suh birdied twice and bogeyed twice during the final round but the difference proved to be his eagle on the 442 yard par-4 14th.
