AUGUSTA, GA (April 8, 2018) - Doug Ghim shot a final-round 74 to close out the 2018 Masters, earning the low amateur trophy and a place in Butler Cabin for the Green Jacket Ceremony.

Ghim had four birdies on the day, including a hole-out bunker shot on the final hole that produced a roar from the gallery and brought an embrace from his father and caddie Jeff.

Ghim rolled in long birdie putts at the 10th and 14th, and also birdied the par-5 8th.

The University of Texas senior finished the tournament at 8-over 296. His tournament was highlighted by three eagles, including just the sixth eagle ever recorded in the Masters on the 18th hole. For those eagles, he'll be bringing three sets of crystal glasses with him back to Austin as he looks forward to the NCAA Championships and graduation later this spring.

ROUND THREE RECAP

Doug Ghim shot a third-round 74 at The Masters on Saturday, highlighted by an eagle 3 at the par-5 13th hole at Augusta National Golf Club.

It was the second eagle of the week at the 13th for Ghim, the U.S. Amateur runner-up from Arlington Heights, IL and the University of Texas. Putting from the lower level to the back left tier, Ghim rolled in a 35 footer.

It was Ghim's third eagle of the week. On Thursday, he holed a 179-yard shot from the 18th fairway for an eagle 2, just the 6th eagle on that hole in Masters history.

Ghim's round of 74 puts him at 6 over for the tournament, and tied for 47th place. he was paired with a former Masters champion for the third straight round. 1985 and 1993 champion Bernhard Langer of Germany accompanied Ghim in round three, shooting a 1-under 71 at the age of 60.

ROUND TWO RECAP

Ghim shot 72 in a memorable first round highlighted by two back-nine eagles: a 3 on the 13th that marked the first eagle made by anyone in the tournament, and a 179-yard hole-out eagle 2 on the 18th, only the 6th eagle ever made on the hole in the Masters.

Like many in the field, Ghim stumbled at the first hole, making a double-bogey six. But he bounced back with a nifty pitch over the bunker short-right of the second green for birdie, and then stuffed a 69-yard wedge to within five feet and converted for birdie to get back to even par.

But he would go on to lose four shots in the next four holes, including a second double-bogey at the par-3 6th. Now 4 over, Ghim needed to steady himself, and he managed to play even par golf from there into the clubhouse, with a bogey on the 14th offset by a birdie 2 at the 16th. Doc Redman, the U.S. Amateur champion from Raleigh, NC and Clemson University, turned at one over for the day but lost three shots on 10 and 11 and ended up with a 77 to miss the cut by four shots.

Joaquin Niemann, the Latin American Amateur champion from Chile, followed his opening-round 76 with a 77 on Friday. Niemann had an outside chance of making the cut but went double-bogey-bogey on Amen Corner. He did birdie three of his last four holes to put a good taste in his mouth as he embarks on his journey into professional golf starting next week.

Asia-Pacfiic Amateur champion Yuxin Lin of China shot an 80 after opening in 79 on Thursday.

Matt Parziale, the U.S. Mid-Amateur champion from Brockton, MA shot a 79 highlighted by an eagle on the 13th hole.
