SAVANNAH, GA (April 13, 2018) - Jack Hall of Savannah, playing at his home club, defeats Bob Royak of Alpharetta, 5 and 3, to win the 2018 Georgia Senior Match Play Championship. The seventh edition of this event took place at The Savannah Golf Club, April 10-13.
Hall earned wins over Frank Paris of Savannah (4 and 3) in the round of 16, and Scotty Scott of Hoschton (1 up) in the quarterfinals. On Friday morning he defeated Mark Nickerson of Roswell (4 and 3) in the semifinals. Hall was the low medalist after stroke play qualifying and earned the number one seed.
Brian Johnston of Peachtree Corners won the title in the Super Senior division. He defeated Al Small of Savannah (2 and 1) in the final match.
Johnston advanced to the finals with wins over Thomas Hiller of Fortson (3 and 2) in the round of 16, and Frank Costanzo of Savannah (4 and 3). He outlasted Bill Blalock of Atlanta (20 holes) in the semifinals on Friday morning. Johnston earned the number three seed in the bracket after stroke play qualifying.
