JUNO BEACH, FL (April 28, 2018) - Tim Jackson (Germantown, TN) shot his third straight par-or-better round, an even-par 72, to pull away from the field and win the George L. Coleman Senior by seven shots at Seminole Golf Club.

It was Jackson's third Coleman title, to go along with his first senior win in 2016 and the mid-amateur in 2012. Jackson opened with a 72 but took the lead with a 3-under 69 in round two. His winning total was 213, 3 under par.

How well does Tim Jackson play Seminole? He has finished as either the winner or the runner-up in eight straight years of competition (the last five as a senior, the three before that as a mid-amateur).

Gene Elliott (W. Des Moines, IA) was attempting to win the Coleman Senior in his first appearance in the senior field. The two-time Coleman champion (2007, 2009) took the lead after a 69 in the first round but backtracked from there, shooting 76-75 to finish in a tie for second with Steve Harwell (Mooresville, NC) and 2012 Coleman senior champ Brady Exber (Las Vegas, NV).

Elliott did claim the Barend van Gerbig Trophy as the low Seminole member in the field, with a three-round total of 4-over 220.

Matt Sughrue (Arlington, VA) shot the day's low round, a 2-under 70, to pull into a tie for fifth. Jack Hall (Savannah, GA) and Tommy Brennan (Covington, LA) joined Sughrue at at 6-over 222.

Former U.S. Amateur, British Amateur, U.S. Senior Amateur, and Coleman Senior champion Vinny Giles (Richmond, VA) shot his age with a final-round 75.

SECOND ROUND RECAP

2015 senior champion Tim Jackson (Germantown, TN) has taken the lead from first-round leader Gene Elliott (W. Des Moines, IA), shooting a 69 to get to 3-under 141, four shots clear of Elliott.

Jackson was the only senior player to break par in round two, and picked up seven shots on Elliott, who shot a 76 after opening with a 69.

2012 Coleman senior champ Brady Exber (Las Vegas, NV) is in a tie for third at 3 over, seven shots behind, along with Steve Harwell (Mooresville, NC) and John McClure (Austin, TX).

FIRST ROUND RECAP

Gene Elliott (W. Des Moines, IA) shot a 3-under 69 to take a two-shot lead over John McClure (Austin, TX). Both players were a part of last week's winning U.S. Concession Cup team, each posting a perfect 3-0 match play record.

Elliott became a senior last year and this is the first time he has competed in the Senior Division. He finished 9th in the Mid-Amateur championship last year and is a two-time Coleman champion (2007, 2009).

Four players are tied for third place at even-par 72, including the 2015 senior champion Tim Jackson (Germantown, TN), along with Alan Fadel (Toledo, OH), Tommy Brennan (Covington, LA) and Randy Haag (Orinda, CA).

Bryan Norton, who won the Senior title back-to-back in 2014 and 2015, struggled to an 80 in round one.

The 2017 champion and #1 ranked senior Doug Hanzel (Savannah, GA) is not in the field this week.
