CARMICHAEL, CA (May 27, 2018) - Just weeks after completing his senior season at Boise State Donny Hopoi has opened a two-stroke lead with one round remaining at the Memorial Amateur hosted by Ancil Hoffman Golf Course.
Hopoi, from Aeia, HI, began his week with a 3-under 69 on Saturday before going even lower in the second round with a stellar 5-under 67 to reach 8-under.
Despite holding a two shot cushion the challengers will be many during the Memorial Day conclusion.
UC Davis' Thomas Huchison (69-69) and Logan Lowe (69-69) of George Washington sit in a tie for second only two back at 6-under while Ben Doyle (70-69), Alabama's Josh Sedeno (69-70) and UCLA commit Ahmed Ali (69-70) are tied for fourth at 5-under just three behind. Five others are only one shot further back at 4-under.
