HAYMARKET, VA (August 8, 2018) - Keith Decker (Martinsville, VA) won the Dave King Senior Invitational for the third straight year, cruising home with a 71 for an 11-shot win at Evergreen Country Club.
Last year, Decker won a duel with Mike Occi in a rain-shortened tournament that only went 36 holes. This year, there was little drama after the first round.
Decker shot an opening 67 to take a one-shot lead over Jim Nirich (Catlett, VA), but blew the tournament open with a 65 in the second round that pushed his lead to nine.
Robin Rubrecht (Newburgh, IN) shot a final-round 68 to get into second place at 214, 11 shots behind Decker, while Nirich (75) finished third at 216.
James Starnes (Ft. Myers, FL) and Jon Zampedro (Centreville, VA) rounded out the top five at 217 and 220, respectively.
In the Super Senior Division, John Armstrong (Frostburg, MD) shot a final-round 73 to overtake John Hoffman (Fairfax, VA) for a one-shot win at 220. Hoffman closed with a 76.
Jeff Johns (Haymarket, VA), John Osborne (Vero Beach, FL), and James Castagna (Sandy Spring, MD) filled out the top five places.
In the Legends Division, George Washburn (Frederick, MD) shot rounds of 71-65-70 for a 206 total and a three-shot win over John Blank (Frostburg, MD), with 36-hole leader John Vardaman (Washington, DC) third at 210.
