Hargett takes solo lead into final round of Sr North & South

PINEHURST, N.C. (Aug. 21, 2018) – Eddie Hargett separated himself atop the Senior North & South leaderboard on Tuesday, breaking out of a three-way tie for first to take solo possession of the lead. Hargett followed an opening 70 with a 5-under 67 at Pinehurst No. 6. He birdied four of his final five holes to get there.
Already this year, Hargett has finished second at the Chanticleer Senior and T-3 at the Gasparilla Senior.
Hargett effectively opened up a two-shot lead over Pat Thompson, who won the Chanticleer, entering the final round, which will be played at Pinehurst No. 2. Thompson only had one bogey Tuesday in a round of 4-under 68. He stands at 5 under for the week.
Scott Mayne is three shots behind that after a 2-under 70 on Tuesday. John Fritz, at 1 under for the week, is the only other player with a total score in the red. He stands solo fourth.
First-round co-leaders Walter Todd and John Ambridge lost ground on Day 2 with rounds of 74 and 75, respectively. Defending champion Todd Hendley is part of a four-man tie for ninth at 2 over.
In the super senior division, Jerry Ishee II now has a six-shot lead. Ishee followed at opening 70 at Pinehurst No. 2 with a 71 at Pinehurst No. 5.Ishee is 3 under for the week.

Part of the annual North & South series of
tournaments at Pinehurst that include Men's,
Women's, Juniors and Seniors. Entries are open
to
male and female golfers who meet the
requirements below. All applicants must
conform
to the USGA Rules of Amateur Status and meet
the requirements of the USGA Gender Policy.
In the Men's Open Division, applicants must
have
reached 55 years of age by tournament date to
be eligible for competition. All applicants must
have a handicap index of 8.4 or less.
In the Men's Super-Senior Division, applicants
must have reached 65 years of age by
tournament date to be eligible for competition.
All applicants must have a handicap index 10.4
or
less.
FORMAT: 54-holes of stroke play will determine
the Champion. Play will be divided into four
divisions (Men’s Open, Men’s Super-Senior,
Women’s Open, and Women’s Super-Senior)
and
contested with one round each on Pinehurst
No.
1, No. 5, No. 8. A full field will consist of 90
Open
Men and 90 Super-Senior Men.
