KISSIMMEE, Fla. (Aug. 26, 2018) – Miles McConnell started each round of the Florida Mid-Senior with a birdie, and it set the tone for a one-shot victory by the end of the weekend. McConnell got to 14 under at Walt Disney World’s Palm course and Reunion Resort’s Watson course. It allowed him to barely edge runner-up Pete Williams for his first FSGA title.

McConnell began with a 7-under 65 at the Watson course. He had a second-round 70 at the Palm course and held strong with a final-round 67 at the Palm. Even though McConnell had never won an FSGA event, he was the low amateur at the Florida Senior Open earlier this summer.

Past FSGA Champion and Senior Player of the Year Pete Williams moved up the leaderboard behind him in each round. Williams opened with 72 but had a final-round 63 that tied the tournament low round. Williams, of Juno Beach, claimed second place, one stroke behind, at 13-under 203.

Daniel Debra, of Lutz, showed the meaning of consistency with three rounds of 68 to finish in third place at 12-under 204. Nikhil DeSai fell to fourth place after two final rounds of 71 for an 11 under 205 total. DeSai had opened with a 63 on the Palms course to take the early lead.

There were 15 players in the red for 54 holes.
