ONEIDA, Wis. (Aug. 28, 2018) – Paul Zarek was the only player to finish 36 holes in the red at Thornberry Creek and it resulted in the Wisconsin Senior Amateur title. Zarek last won this championship in 2015 after finishing runner-up in 2014.

The Burlington, Wis., resident got to 1 under with a birdie on the back nine in the second round. It went along with eight pars. Zarek had two birdies and two bogeys on the front. He started the tournament with an even-par 72 in Round 1 that included two birdies in his final three holes to help erase a double bogey at No. 4.

Zarek plays a national senior schedule. He finished T-28 at the SOS Fall Classic last year and T-13 at the 2017 Golfweek Senior Amateur.

Zarek edged Rockey Sperka of New Berlin, Wis., Dave Ullenberg of Menomonee Falls, Wis., and Chuck Garbedian of Waukesha, Wis., by a shot. Sperka bogeyed his final hole to fall into second place.

Defending champion Ramiro Romo finished 29th with a 6-over total.

Steve Johnson won the super senior division by a single shot with his 4-under 140 total. Doyle Daily was the top player in the legends division at 5-over 149.
