WILLISTON, Vt. (Sept. 12, 2018) – Gary Shover did the hard work in the first round of the Vermont Senior Amateur. But on Wednesday at Williston Golf Course, Shover managed to hang on to win his second title in the event. Shover also won in 2015.

Shover’s first round included four birdies, but also a double bogey and a bogey. He finished with 1-under 71, which stood as the only under-par round from any competitor during the tournament. There were too many big numbers on Shover’s card in the second round, however, and he fell to 3-over 75. At 4-over 146, Shover won by three shots.

Greg Wells was second at 7-over 149 after rounds of 74-75. Kim Perry and Robert Stevens tied for third another shot back.

Mike Rollyson won the Super Senior division at 9-over 151. John Sanborn was the Legends winner at 27-over 169.
