LAS VEGAS (Oct. 26, 2018) – Brigham Gibbs topped a man who is synonymous with Las Vegas amateur golf Friday in the Las Vegas City Senior. Gibbs, a former professional, used a final-round 70 at Las Vegas Golf Club to edge Brady Exber and Todd Roberts for the title.
Gibbs, of course, is just a few months removed from winning the Utah Senior Amateur. It was his first state senior title.
In Las Vegas this week, Gibbs opened with a 1-under 71 that left him two shots behind first-round leader Roberts. Gibbs was 3 under before making double bogey on No. 16 coming in.
In Friday’s final round, Gibbs had four birdies and two bogeys for a 70. Exber, who opened with 71, nearly caught him but bogeyed the 18th. Exber is one of the top senior amateurs in the country who won the Canadian Senior Amateur earlier this summer. He is a seven-time SNGA Player of the Year winner and a two-time Stocker Cup winner (an event that overlapped the Las Vegas Senior this year).
A bogey at No. 18 also kept Roberts out of the top spot. Sean Mulvenon was fourth at 1 over and Rich Morrison was fifth at 2 over.
Dario Gonzales won the silver division at 2 under after rounds of 68-74. He was two shots ahead of John Garrett.
