BOULDER CITY, Nev. (Dec. 16, 2018) – As the only player in the field to post back-to-back rounds under par,
Jack Trent took home the Southern Nevada Championship title on Sunday at Cascata Golf Club. He was four shots ahead of
Edward Fryatt.
Trent opened with a 4-under 68 and followed it with a 1-under 71. He never made higher than a bogey over the weekend. Trent, who hails from Brisbane, Australia, is a sophomore on the UNLV roster.
As for Fryatt, an opening 3-under 69 left him one shot behind Trent, but a final-round 74 left him four shots off the pace. Fryatt, who qualified for the U.S. Mid-Amateur earlier this year, was runner-up at the Crane Cup last month. He won this event each of the past two years.
Craig Erickson was third at 4 over and Daren Johnson was fourth at 6 over.
In the senior division, David Koch took first with a 5-over 149 total. He was four shots ahead of John Turk in second.
Frank Abbott won the silver division at 8 over, four shots ahead of Steve Wilson.
