As the calendar flips from the Honda Classic to the Arnold Palmer Invitational, there is a third event that enters the conversation for “best tournament of the week.” The honor clearly belongs to the Seminole Pro-Member, an 18-hole best-ball event played Monday at Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Fla.

The event features everyone from current PGA Tour players to past legends and Hall of Famers to Walker Cup captains to top amateurs to golf businessman. Among the notable names in the field were Jack Nicklaus, Rory McIlroy, Greg Norman and Rickie Fowler.

A very notable mid-amateur finished atop the gross division. Mike McCoy, an Iowa Golf Hall of Fame member, partnered with Tour player Cameron Tringale for a 65 and a one-shot win. The two edged the teams of David Novak and Jon Rahm, and Rich Drucker and Jaye Marie Green.

Drucker and Green, a South Florida local who won the Sally Amateur and was runner-up at the 2012 U.S. Women’s Amateur before finding success on the LPGA tour, won the net division with 63.

Farther down the leaderboard, Fowler and two-time Walker Cup captain Buddy Marucci (2007, ’09) tied for ninth with 68. The two have paired together in this event for the past few years, and Fowler played for Marucci in both his Walker Cup turns.

Vinny Giles, a two-time USGA champion, and former player Gary Koch, now a golf commentator, had a 71 that left them in a group tied for 37th. Greg Norman and his partner David Kirkland were another shot behind that, and so were Brooks Koepka and partner Larry Fitzgerald, who plays for the Arizona Cardinals and was part of the winning team at the 2018 Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Another recent Walker Cup captain, Spider Miller, paired with PGA Tour player Zac Blair and finished T-63 with a round of 73. Jack Nicklaus paired with Tom O'Toole, a past USGA president. The duo posted 79.
