Comerford was a recognized golf talent in Australia before enrolling at the College of the Canyons, where his golf team took top state honors in 2018 and Comerford earned the 2018 Western State Conference Player of the Year. Comerford is currently a student and golfer at South Dakota State University.

Pasadena’s Dan Sullivan followed his par 71 round on Saturday with a 6 under par 65 on Sunday to earn second place honors. Sullivan is a two-time Southern California Golf Association Player of the Year and has earned regional and state honors in many venues.

Third place went to Cal State East Bay’s Joey Herrera (Fillmore), who scored 137 (4 under par) in two rounds.

According to Simi Hills General Manager and Head Professional, Brian Reed, “We are extremely pleased with the condition of the course and pace of play.” Reed continued, “At this tournament, we made pace of play a priority over the past few years, and this year these efforts have really paid off. By monitoring pace of play in a low-key but effective manner, and deliberately limiting the size of the field, we were rewarded with a pace of play of 4 hours and 40 minutes for the final group in today’s round. We couldn’t be happier, and our tournament players are pleased as well.”

Top honors in the Senior Championship flight went to Phil Hurlbut (West Hills), scoring three under par 139 in two rounds. Hurlbut won the flight by six strokes over Bob Valerio (Hawthorne). In third place at four over par 146, was Chris Amendt (Camarillo).

There were players tied for both gross and net score honors in the Regular A Flight at the completion of the 36 hole event. After tie-breakers, Dante Fornaro (Laugna Beach) was awarded the top award in the gross competition with a two-day score of 9 over par, 151. Bob Rodwell (Newhall) and Calvin McClure (Simi Valley) shared the net competition title in the A flight, with scores of 141. Second place in the gross score competition was also a tie, between Keith Kirtzner (Sherman Oaks) and Jason Dubrovo (Northridge).

The B flight gross score champion is Michael Bennett (Moorpark), who shot 152 in two rounds. Bennett bested Doug Boyle (Agoura Hills) by three shots and Gabriel Caro (Rancho Cucamonga) by four shots. The B flight net score championship went to Jason Bellamy (Simi Valley), with a net score of nine under par 135. Second low net in the B flight was awarded to Doyle Knight, who shot 138.

Competition in the Senior A flight was fierce this year. In the Senior A flight gross competition, Gustavo Marks (West Hills) and Duane Raha (Valencia) shared honors with two-day scores of 151 – 9 strokes over par.

In the Senior A flight net competition, top honors were shared by Ron Vargo (Simi Valley), David Ramos (Porter Ranch) and David Vanderhorst (Castaic). All three golfers carded net scores of 137.

In the Senior B gross score competition, Jim Beck of Simi Valley took the honors with a two-day score of 159. Scott Zeller (Moorpark) took second place with a score of 163, followed by Vinay Chhabra (Chatsworth) with a 165.

The Senior B flight net competition was won by Mark Sawyer (Simi Valley) with a score of 134. Mike Popell (North Hills) placed second with 137, followed by Craig Becker (Simi Valley) at 138.
