ANTIOCH, California (Nov 13, 2007) -- It might be doctors who have the reputation for their regular Wednesday golf game, but in Northern California, it seems like dentists are the ones with serious game.

Take Mark Miller of Antioch, for example, the NCGA's 2007 Senior Player-of-the-Year. For years a consistent performer in state and national events, Miller has found new life as a senior.

After placing in the top-5 an amazing 24 events last last year Miller's game hasn't lost a step in 2008. He has thus far racked up victories in a pair of amateur majors, the Alameda Commuters and Golfweek Senior Amateur and taken first in a pair of amateurgolf.com events, the Silicon and Diablo Valley Amateurs. Seemingly always in the hunt, Miller has top-5 finishes in two more of our events, the California Mid-Am, Master & Senior and the Monterey County Four-Ball (with Terry Foreman)..

In 2006, Miller finished behind his good friend Gary Vanier in the NCGA Senior Points race, but in 2007 it was his consistent play resulted in a role reversal that put him on top with Vanier in the No. 2 position.

Playing as a senior for the second year, Miller earned points in 28 different points’ events. This included three championships and nine runner-up finishes. Miller’s 1,746 points were more than 600 clear of runner-up Vanier.

Miller and Vanier partnered together in the Antioch Senior Best-Ball in 2007 and fired a tournament-record 22-under par in the 36 hole event. The two earned equal points towards the 2008 title, which they will no doubt be pursuing. This year the pair finished second to Casey Boyns and Rob Thompson.
