Cantley is dominant in Leven Gold Medal victory

Kieran Cantley put in the work at Leven (Scotland) Links over the first three rounds. With scores of 65-65-63, he made it nearly impossible for anyone to keep up. After a final-round 71, the Scotsman claimed a seven-shot victory at the Leven Gold Medal over a field of compatriots.
It wasn’t that Cantley played wild golf in the final round, it was just that he struggled to summon the birdies (and eagles) he had in the first three rounds. There were 19 birdies and two eagles over the course of the first three days. Cantley made just one birdie and matched it with a bogey in the final round.
Already this summer, Cantley finished runner-up at the North of Scotland Open and made match play at the Scottish Amateur, only to fall in the first round.
Behind Cantley, Greg Wishart started his week on fire with an opening 63, only to cool off considerably with subsequent rounds of 69-70-69. Still, it was enough for a solo second.
Euan McIntosh, the 50-year-old defending champion in this event, and James Wilson, winner of the 2018 Welsh Amateur, tied for third.
