Where Missouri mid-amateur golf is concerned, Chris Kovach is suddenly the player to beat. Kovach added the Missouri Mid-Amateur title to a long list of summer accomplishments on Sunday when a final-round 67 vaulted him to the top of the leaderboard, one shot ahead of Addison White.

Kovach, a CPA who lives in St. Louis, didn’t have a single bogey on Sunday. His closing 67 tied for the best round of the tournament at Jefferson City (Mo.) Country Club.

Twice before, Kovach has finished runner-up in this championship (2015, 2017). He was also the runner-up at the Missouri Stroke Play earlier this summer after losing in a playoff.

Kovach, who played college golf at Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo., partnered with Chad Niezing earlier this summer to win the Missouri Four-Ball. He also defended his title at the St. Louis Griesedieck Men's Championship. Kovach will make his USGA debut next month at the U.S. Mid-Amateur in Parker, Colo.

Behind White, who hails from Springfield, St. Louis resident Patrick Britt also had a final-round 67 to climb the leaderboard into third. Adam Pfeiffer was solo fourth followed by three men in a tie for fifth, which included Brad Nurski, the runner-up at the 2014 U.S. Mid-Amateur.
