On Sunday, White added the 2020 championship to his highly decorated resume at the event which includes wins in 1991, 2004, and 2010. That's four wins in four different decades.

The 2013 Walker Cup team member has had a storied amateur career including wins at the Azalea Amateur in 2015 and the Palmetto Amateur in 2010 as well as numerous USGA championship appearances including a win in the inaugural U.S. Four-Ball Championship in 2015.

White, 52, settled back into his well-worn saddle at the SC Amateur Match Play this week. Qualifying as the 27-seed, White went 4 & 3, 5 & 4, 3 & 1, 2 & 1 on his way to the ever-familiar championship match.

Playing against College of Charleston senior Logan Sowell, nearly 30 years his junior, White rattled off four birdies on the first five holes giving him a 3 up advantage early. Building on his lead as he has built on his amateur golf career, White nailed the final three nails in the coffin on holes 10, 11, and 13 for a 6 & 5 win.

“The college guys, they hit it so much further than we mid-ams and senior-ams, so we’ve got to be able to find some way to compete,” White told Carolinas Golf Association. “Orangeburg Country Club is not overly long, so it lends itself to me having the opportunity to compete.”

Separating himself from Barry Black and Bert Atkinson who hold three titles to their name, White now sits atop the match play mountain.

“Being able to win in 1991, 2004, 2010 and now in 2020, I am most proud of the longevity with which I’ve been able to maintain my game,” White said. “That’s something to be proud of, and I’d be lying if I said that winning that fourth and separating myself from Bert and Barry was not a goal, because it has been a goal. Three years ago, I missed out on accomplishing it. Luckily I had the opportunity to do it today and was able to get it done.”
