Bill Williamson of Coldstream Country Club shot a 2-under 68 to win the 20th Metropolitan Mid-Amateur at O'Bannon Creek Golf Club in Loveland, Ohio.
Williamson, now a five-time winner of the event, started the day one shot behind overnight leader Matthew Wetterich who opened with a 1-under 69. Wetterich started hot with two early birdies to extend his lead to four, but would stall out from there, dropping three shots for a 71 and an even-par 140 total.
Williamson bogeyed the third hole but was flawless afterward, going three under and overtaking Wetterich at the 12th hole before a birdie on the par-5 17th gave him a two-shot advantage and ultimately a 2-under 138 total.
The 43-year-old from Cincinnati has long been one of the nation's top mid-amateurs, and finished as the runner-up in the 2012 U.S. Mid-Amateur, and the 2017 Crump Cup and Stocker Cup.
Lance Lucas was third at 1-over 141.
The defending champion Alex Rodger tied for 10th.
In the Women's division, Ali Green of Four Bridges Country Club held off Allison Schultz by a single shot with a 155 total.
