Following an opening 64, Weston Bell and Robert Lutomski claim the 37th Annual Players Four-Ball Championship in wire to wire fashion.

Going 31-33 on Saturday, Bell and Lutomski took a one stroke lead into Championship Sunday. As the duo plodded their way around Columbia Country Club in Blythewood, South Carolina, the front side offered much more for the team than the closing nine.

Bell and Lutomski got off to a blazing hot start as they tallied four consecutive birdies to begin the final round. Grabbing two more birdies over their next five holes, the team was already one shot better than Saturday’s round.

Coming off a team win back in March at the SCGA Partners Championship, the pair of gamers smelled blood in the water, as they went in for the kill on the backside. With the course playing a touch over 6,700 yards, the long bombers picked apart the course en route to tallying 17 birdies and zero bogeys over the course of 36 holes.

Although they held a slim margin over the field to begin the day, the team seemed comfortably in control of the championship as their lead swelled to five by days end.

“We were in the final group,” Weston told AmateurGolf.com. “The guys we were playing with, they birdied the first three holes also. We were keeping ahead of them and I think they got deflated a little when we made the fourth one in a row.”

Finishing the tournament at 17 under, the dynamic duo took the championship by five shots as three teams finished at 12 under par.

With Weston’s season coming to an end, he now turns his focus to heading to the West Coast to compete in the 2021 AmateurGolf.com Two-Man at Bandon Dunes. Instead of his good friend, Lutomski as his playing partner, Weston will be joined by his father as they look to make a run in Oregon.
