Despite some conferences shutting golf down for the fall, others carry on with as many precautions and protocols as possible.

A handful of Conference USA, Sun Belt, and Division II schools made the trek to College Grove, Tennessee to take part in the Intercollegiate at the Grove.

Individually, Louisiana Monroe’s Guillaume Fanonnel (Lyon, France) successfully defended his individual championship in a three-way tie with Coastal Carolina’s Tyler Gray, Mercer’s Jonathan Parker.

Four shots back of Gray and Parker, Fanonnel was able to piece together a 4-under 68, matching the other twos opening 68s on Monday. The Frenchman’s only stumble was right out of the blocks with a bogey on his first hole of the day. Taking charge, Fanonnel marked birdies on hole Nos. 7, 8, 11, 16, and 18 to earn co-medalist honors.

As a senior, Fanonnel will not have an opportunity to go for the three-peat next season. As for Gray, the co-medal honor marks the first win of his collegiate career.

In the team competition, tournament host Middle Tennessee got their first win in the seven-year history of the event in dramatic fashion.

Down three strokes with one hole to play, the Raiders had to make a move on the scoreable par-5 18th. With birdies from freshmen Michael Barnard and Owen Stamper, the scene was set for redshirt sophomore Palmer Sadlowski.

Needing a birdie to tie Louisiana Monroe’s 573, Sadlowski buried a 15-foot birdie putt to secure a share of the title.

"Tanner and I saw the leaderboard and we knew we were one back," Sadlowski told Middle Tennessee. "We both got on the green and after that, we knew one of us just had to make a putt, and when it came down to me I drilled it.”

With the birdie on the last, Sadlowski also carded the lowest round of the day, a 5-under 67. The mark is also Sadlowski’s career-low round.

"I've never really been under pressure like that before. The whole round I was just like 'when is this grind going to be over?'", said Sadlowski. "Luckily I was able to finish it out with a birdie on 18."
