Two players split medalist honors at the Jerry Pate Inv.

The Egg Bowl came early this year.
As the Ole Miss Rebels and Mississippi State Bulldogs are set to meet on the gridiron Thanksgiving weekend, their golf counterparts took home medalist honors at the Jerry Pate Invitational, hosted by the University of Alabama at the Old Overton Club.
Ole Miss sophomore Jackson Suber and Mississippi State sophomore Ford Clegg shared medalist honors with matching 12-under 198s through 54 holes. For Clegg, he tied the Bulldogs’ 54-hole scoring record and was the first to do so since the 2014-15 season. For Suber, he tied the Rebels’ 54-hole scoring record, tying Braden Thornberry for the honor.
Clegg had rounds of 66-63-69 for the halve of the win while Suber took rounds of 67-65-66 to the top of the leaderboard, using the four under final round to catch his cross-state rival.
University of Missouri grad senior Rory Franssen failed to gain any momentum with a final round even-par 70 to take a third-place finish with a tournament total 11-under 199.
Taking the team title were the Auburn Tigers. Tying the event with both the Georgia Bulldogs and the Vanderbilt Commodores, the Tigers took home the team championship via a playoff.
Auburn, en route to their victory, had the second-lowest team total of the day with a 4-under 276. Bested only by Ole Miss, the Tigers grabbed control of the tournament as Georgia could not come close to their tournament-low total of 265.
The Jerry Pate Invitational marks the conclusion of the SEC men’s fall season. The men’s squads will await to see if they will be playing within their conference or will be able to venture outside of their immediate realm to compete as the spring approaches.
