Ina Kim-Schaad, 35, of New York, N.Y., will defend her U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur title starting this weekend
After a one-year hiatus due the pandemic, the U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur returns this weekend at Berkeley Hall Club's North Course in Bluffton, South Dakota.
The U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur consists of 18 holes of stroke play on Sept. 25 and 18 holes of stroke play on Sept. 26, after which 132 players will be reduced to the low 64 players for match play. There will be six rounds of match play, starting Sept. 27 with the Round of 64. The Round of 32 and Round of 16 will be played on Sept. 28. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be played on Sept. 29 and the championship will conclude with an 18-hole final on Sept. 30, starting at 9:00 a.m. EDT.
"This will be the highest-ranking female event that we've ever hosted at the club, so it's exciting and it's an honor to be chosen by the USGA to get to host one of their national championships," Berkeley Hall general manager Adam Kushner said.

Talia Campbell, 3 and 2, in the 18-hole final at Forest Highlands Golf Club in Flagstaff, Ariz. Kim-Schaad will tee off Saturday morning at 8:20 a.m. along with Shannon Johnson (North Easton, Mass.) and Kelsey Chugg (Salt Lake City, Utah).
Lara Tennant, fresh off her third consecutive U.S. Senior Women's Amateur title, will be paired with Chelsea Collura (Riverview, Mich.) and
Laura Coble (Augusta, Ga.) for the stroke play portion of the tournament.
Ellen Port, a four-time U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur champion and runner-up to Tennant last week in Point Clear, Ala., will be looking for her eighth USGA championship, which would tie her with JoAnne Carner for most among women.
The U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur is open to any female golfer who has reached her 25th birthday by September 25 and whose Handicap Index does not exceed 9.4. Qualifying was over 18 holes was held between Aug. 9 and Sept. 2 at 32 sites, including one in Mexico.
