Behind top-20 finishes by
Jack Lundin,
Charlie Crockett and
Yu Ta Tsai, the Missouri Tigers came away with the team title at the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational, which was hosted by the University of South Alabama in Loxley, Ala.
Mississippi State's
Ford Clegg successfully defended his individual title by medalist honors once again with an 11-under-par 205 total after posting a pair of 67s on Saturday.
The Tigers, ranked 42nd by Golfweek/Sagarin, took a five-stroke lead into Sunday's final round and after closing with an even-par 288, finished the 54-hole event at 17-under 847, good for a two-stroke victory over Kentucky.
Lundin and Crockett were part of an eight-way tie for eighth place. Lundin put together rounds of 72-69-71 for a 4-under score of 212 while Crockett carded rounds of 67-72-71. With his performance at Steelwood, Lundin, a junior from Sioux Falls, S.D. has finished in the top-20 in four of Mizzou's five events this fall. Ta Tsai finished in a five-way tie for 16th place at 3-under 213 after rounds of 69-72-72.
The Steelwood title bookends a successful fall season for Missouri, which opened the season with a win at the Turning Stone Intercollegiate at Kaluhyat Golf Club in Verona, N.Y.
