Adam Alvarez dominated the field at the City of Orlando Championship with a ten shot victory. The redshirt sophomore at Florida Southern finished with rounds of 66-67-68 at the par 70 Dubsdread course.

Last year, Alvarez finished in second place in the event. A final round 75 tripped him up, and he lost by one shot Christopher Anderson fired a 67. With only five bogeys on the card for the tournament, he made sure to secure the win with a solid closing round, leaving nothing to doubt as he came down the stretch.

"I'm a completely different player than I was last year," Alvarez said. He seemed to have a firm grasp on how to navigate Dubsdread. "The course is short but plays longer than the yardage says because of how tight it is," Alvarez said about Dubsdread. "There are some opportunities to be aggressive but in the end it's usually dictated by the wind."

As with most golfers, Alvarez felt like he could have scored even better.

"I definitely left so many shots out there," Alvarez told Amateur Golf, "but I stole a few shots that I shouldn't have so it balanced out."

Credit mainly goes to Alvarez's chipping and putting. He said that he felt that he could get up and down from anywhere on the course, and that took pressure off his long game on the tight, course dotted with hazards and out of bounds.

This win shouldn't come as a surprise, as Alvarez is riding a good wave of college golf. He was named to the all-conference second team in the Sunshine State Conference.

Jacob Hair finished in second place, shooting one over, and Lloyd Notley rounded out the top three with a final total of two over.

In the senior event, Mike Murphy of Oldsmar, Fla. held of Brian Brown for a one shot victory. Murphy put together rounds of 72-69-73 for a four-over total. Brown and Murphy shot identical scores in the final two rounds of the event.

With just nine holes remaining, Brown and Murphy were tied for the lead, but a double bogey on the 14th hole proved costly for Brown, and he couldn’t make up the difference and catch Murphy.
