The sixth event in the Elite Amateur Series tees off on Wednesday with the playing of the 116th Southern Amateur Championship at Sea Island Golf Club on St. Simons Island, Ga.

This marks the second time the Southern Amateur has visited Sea Island. In 1999, Ed Loar won the 93rd championship at Ocean Forest Golf, which is a short drive from Sea Island's Plantation Course.

Last year, Ohio State's Maxwell Moldovan won the Southern Amateur with a 72-hole total of 2-under 264 at Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Miss., shattering Justin Leonard’s previous Southern Am scoring record of 270 set in 1993. Moldovan strung together rounds of 64-68-65-67 and didn’t make a bogey in either of his final two rounds.
