Brian Comegys carded three straight rounds under par en route to a five-stroke victory at the South Amateur which wrapped up Sunday at Victoria (Texas) Country Club.

Comegys, who will play collegiate golf at Abilene Christian, opened with a first round 5-under-par 67, and took a three-stroke lead into the final round. A 4-under-par 68 on Sunday closed the door on his closest pursuers.

David Harrison of San Antonio, finished runner-up shooting a tournament total of 5-under-par 211. Harrison’s second-place finish was powered by a bogey-free final round of 4-under-par 68. Holden Hamilton finished third, joining Comegys and Harrison as one of only three players who shot par or better each round (71-70-72-213).

The South Amateur is in its 19th year on the schedule and is the final regional event in South Texas for the 2022 season. The tournament is a 54-hole stroke play event with players competing in a single, no-cut division.

With the win, Comegys was awarded 1000 points toward South Player of the Year standings.
