Team Europe widens lead over Team USA in Concession Cup
Matthew McClean (USGA)
After a solid start to the Concession Cup on day one for Team Europe, the home squad turned in a dominating performance on day two at Real Club Valderama in Spain to grow their lead from two points to a staggering five points.
Day 2 consisted of six foursomes matches. The alternate shot format proved beneficial for the Europeans, as they won four matches on the way to racking up a 4.5 of the six points available.
Caolan Rafferty and
Gregoire Schoeb put in the most impressive performance, defeating the U.S team of
Joe Deraney and
Brad Nurski
6&5. The European duo has won both their matches, as they also dispatched
Tug Maude
and https://www.amateurgolf.com/Players/51599/Matthew-Mattare 4&2 in day 1 four-ball.

Mike McCoy and
Rusty Strawn over Mattias Pernheden and Martin Birkolz. The senior duo ran out to a 4-up lead after seven holes and never looks back.
Matthew Mattare and
Evan Beck earned a half point for the U.S.A. However, they let a victory slip through their fingers. They had a 2-up lead on the 17th hole and lost the final two holes against
Moises Cobo
and
Leon Breimer.
Team Europe will head into the third and final day with an 8.5-3.5 lead. The match is still anyone's to win, however, Team Europe boasts the U.S. Mid-Am champion,
