Garrett Boe endures soggy conditions at Silverado to win Grapevine Amateur

Playing in the steady and much-needed rain that is drenching Northern California at year's end,
Garrett Boe carded a final round 6-under 66 on Friday to win the Grapevine Amateur on Silverado Golf Club's North Course in Napa.
Boe, a junior at Cal State-Fullerton, hit all 18 greens in regulation and reached three of Silverado's par 5's in two en route to a soggy 66 in the final round to finish at 9-under for the 54-hole event, which was good for a three-stroke win over Fresno State commit
Ryan Firpo.
“This win means a lot to me because I feel like I keep getting better and better but it’s nice to finally see a result," said Boe. "I felt like my irons and wedge play was the best part of my game this week and allowed me to make a lot of birdies. My goal going into today was just to hit fairways and give myself an opportunity for birdie.”
Edan Cui, a sophomore at Crystal Springs Uplands School in Hillsborough, Calif., finished a distant third, seven back of Boe’s pace, with
Brandon Knight and
Mason Benbrook tied for fourth at 1-under.
This is the fourth year of the Grapevine Amateur, held on the North Course at Silverado Golf Club. Silverado’s North Course has long been a PGA Tour stop, currently hosting the PGA Tour’s Fortinet Championship each September.
The next event in the Troon Saguaro Amateur Series will be the Sonoran Amateur January 1-4 at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona.
