High winds forced the suspension of the second round of The Prestige being played on the PGA West's Greg Norman Course in La Quinta, leaving 12 teams with an early wake-up call on Wednesday morning.

However, Pepperdine and Stanford were two teams that managed to complete their rounds on Tuesday and the 16th-ranked Waves will sleep on a four-stroke lead over the Cardinal heading into tomorrow's final round.

The Waves increased their lead to four over the fifth-ranked Cardinal after a 6-under 278 on Tuesday left them at 14-under 554 at the 36-hole mark. Stanford crafted a 3-under 281 in its second round to improve to 10-under 558. No. 6 Texas Tech is eight back at 6-under 562.

Waves Derek Hitchner, Sam Choi and Luke Gifford turned in 2-under rounds of 69 while William Mouw followed his 6-under 65 with an even par 71.

Stanford's Michael Thorbjornsen took over the individual lead after shooting a 5-under 66 on Tuesday which left him with a one-stroke lead over Mouw at 7-under. Ludvig Aberg, the top-ranked male amateur in the world, is tied for fourth with Loyola Maryount's Tony Hendricks at 5-under.

The teams that didn't finish their second round on Tuesday will resume play at 7:15 a.m. tomorrow morning, followed by a shotgun start for the final round at 10:30 a.m.

ABOUT THE

54 hole men's college tournament played in California's Coachella Valley which features an all- star field of many of major college golf's top teams and players. The Prestige is co-hosted by eight time NCAA Champion Stanford University of the Pac 12 Conference and UC Davis of the Big West Conference.

There is a college/am tournament fund raiser the day before the tournament proper begins which is a great way to see first hand how these players (many of whom will go on to PGA Tour careers) go about their business.
