Amateur Parker Sands of Edmond, Okla., accomplished something all golfers dream about. His final round two score at the Oklahoma Open Championship starts with a 5.

Sands shot a 59 and is now T4 and just one shot back of the lead at 9-under after a first-round 2-over 72. His second round was 13 shots better.

There are only two par-5s on the East Course at Oak Tree Golf Course, and Sands eagled both of them. He added seven birdies and a bogey-free round to shoot the 11-under 59.

The 59 was a course record at Oak Tree Golf Course by two shots.

Sands started with three pars and then jumpstarted his round with an eagle on No. 4. He made three straight birdies after that to go 5-under through holes No. 4-7. He shot a 30 on the front nine.

He made four birdies and an eagle on the back nine to shoot a 29 heading to the clubhouse.

The rising high school senior recently finished T8 at the Jack Burke Jr. Invitational and second at the Talor Gooch Foundation Junior Championship earlier in the summer. He also finished T29 at the Porter Cup.

Amateur Presten Richardson of Mount Vernon, Mo., finds himself going toe-to-toe with a PGA Tour professional, Max McGreevy of Edmond, Okla.

Richardson shot a 6-under 64 to jump into a tie for the lead with McGreevy and Blaine Hale of Dallas, Tex.

He recorded seven birdies and one bogey, including shooting a 31 on the front nine with four birdies. His only blemish for the round came with a bogey on No. 13, but he closed his round strong with a birdie on No. 18.

Richardson shot a 4-under 66 in the first round to get off to a good start. Between both rounds, he has made 13 birdies and three bogeys.

Richardson finished T15 at the Magnolia Amateur and made the Quarterfinals of the Missouri Amateur.

It is tight at the top of the leaderboard, with the three leaders at 10-under and 11 golfers within three shots of the lead.
