Jackson T. Stephens Cup: FSU, Tiger Christensen take the men's medalist honors

27 years ago, Tiger Woods won his first-ever event at the Las Vegas Invitational, now the Shriners Children's Open. On Tuesday, the week of the Shriners Children's Open,
Tiger Christensen of Arizona secured his first win.
Christensen won the individual medalist honors in the men's competition at the third annual Jackson T. Stephens Cup at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, Tex.
Christensen shot 19-under total with rounds of 66-67-64 to win by five shots. He started his final round 5-under through the first seven holes.
Christensen's win was the first of his collegiate career and broke a program record for the lowest 54-hole score in a tournament.
Cole Anderson of Florida State finished in solo second place at 14-under. Connor Gaunt of LSU and Zach Pollo of Arizona finished in T3 at 13-under.
Florida State secured the team title, shooting 51-under with team rounds of 271-270-272 for a total team score of 813. They will be the No. 1 seed in the match play.
With a 20-under performance in Tuesday's round, Arizona finished with a team score of 46-under par and locked in their position as the No. 2 seed for the match play championship.
The 20-under round on Tuesday punched a ticket to the match play finale against Florida State for the team championship on Wednesday.
Florida State and Arizona finished in first and second place. SMU finished in third place at 39-under, LSU finished in fourth place at 32-under, and San Diego State finished in fifth place at 31-under.
In the women's competition, the results had to wait until Wednesday morning between Texas and Wake Forest.
The individual and the team competition were both tied after the conclusion of the third round, and the playoff could not happen due to darkness.
Lauren Kim of Texas and Adela Cernousek of Wake Forest were tied for first place at 11-under, and Texas and Wake Forest are tied for the team lead at 23-under.
Kim won on the fourth playoff hole on Wednesday morning.

National Chairman, Jackson T.
Stephens. The tournament is a four-day stroke play-
match play event featuring
NCAA Division I National Championship contending
men’s and women’s teams.
The tournament format will be 54 holes of stroke
play setting the field for a final day
of match play based on the stroke-play team finish;
the final day of match play will
be 18 holes. The event will also recognize its 54-hole
winners upon completion of
stroke play.
