Tailhade Cup: Canada wins its fourth title in Argentina

Team Canada consisting of Felix Bouchard and Brady McKinlay, shot 4-under with their rounds of 142-137-143 to lift their fourth Tailhade Cup trophy in the capital city of Buenos Aires in Argentina.

Team Denmark consisting of Noah Phan and Maalte Skaaning, and team Switzerland’s Loic Ettlin and Loic Naas shot a matching even-par 426 over 54 holes to finish as the joint runners-up in the tournament.

Denmark carded rounds of 142-143-141 to match Switzerland’s rounds of 141-142-143.

Team South Africa, consisting of Jordan Burnand and Ivan Verster, carded rounds of 140-143-144 to register a solo fourth finish at 1-over, just one-shot adrift of the runner-up finishers, Denmark and Switzerland.

Canada previously emerged as the winner in 2014, 2015, and 2017, and this victory marks their return to the winners' circle after a gap of six years.

Spain, the defending champions, carded rounds of 143-145-142 to register a fifth-place finish at their total score of 4-over.

In the individual competition, Luis Roncal Masaveu of Spain, who is ranked 56th in the world, carded rounds of 66-70-69 to win the title by a three-stroke margin at 8-under.

Felix Bouchard of Canada, a member of the winning team, shot 69-67-72 to register a runners-up finish at 5-under.

Masaveu entered the final round in a share of the lead with Bouchard and carded a final round 2-under 69 consisting of an eagle on the par-5 No. 15, four birdies, and the same number of bogeys, including on his final two holes, to win the title by a three-stroke margin.

Bouchard, on the other hand, had a better start compared to Masaveu, with three birdies coming to him on the first six holes, but he added four bogeys in his last 12 holes to finish three strokes behind the winner.

Skaaling of Denmark shot 4-under with his rounds of 70-70-69 for a solo third finish in the competition.
