Jacob Blanton and Emerson Blair are heading to Ole Miss University to play collegiate golf after standout junior careers.
This weekend, they were the two Division winners at the Pride of the South Amateur at Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Miss.
Blanton won the boy's division running away, shooting 6-under and going to wire-to-wire, winning by seven shots. Blanton shot rounds of 69-72-69, and his final round, 3-under 69, shut the door on anyone looking to come from behind.
Blanton's first round 3-under 69 gave him a three-shot lead after the opening 18 holes, and he was the only golfer in the division to shoot an under par in the first round.
He played consistent golf once he got the lead, recording four birdies and just one bogey in the final round.
Logan McDonald of Southern Arkansas finished in solo second place at 1-over, and Oakley Gee of Kentucky finished in solo third place at 2-over.
The girls' division was also not a close race at the top.
Blair shot a 1-under total and won by 11 shots. Blair shot rounds of 73-68-74.
Her stellar second round of 4-under 68 was not only the low round of the tournament but the only under-par round by any golfer in the division over all three days. She recorded five birdies and one bogey during the almost flawless round.
Lucy Cook of Oak Hill Academy finished in solo second place at 10-over and Ashley-Sinclair Curtis of Auburn finished in solo third place at 11-over.
