Sebastian Sandin of UTEP has had a great 2023 campaign, and he was able to cap off the year with a win at the Gobbler Amateur at Sewailo Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz.
Sandin finished at 7-under through the three rounds to win the tournament by two shots. Sandin shot rounds of 68-69-72. His final round of even-par 72 was solid enough to hold his 36-hole lead.
“This week, I feel like I did a good job on the mental game of staying present and trying to keep my foot on the pedal," Sandin told the Gobbler Amateur after the win. "I was pretty solid all over, but my short game and mid-range putting stood out the most. This win means a lot to me as I haven’t been performing since my switch from Lindsey Wilson College to UTEP."
Sandin added, "This win really boosts my confidence and assures me that I’ve been working on the right things.”
Sandin's great play this fall season has him in fifth place in the Bridgestone APGA Collegiate Standings. Gregory Odom Jr., of Howard, leads the standings.
Brannon Fahrny shot 5-under to finish in solo second place, and Craig Ronne finished in solo third place at 4-under. Lance Hamak finished in solo fourth place at 1-under.
