Nexus Women’s Collegiate Classic: Tulsa comes roaring back to secure the win

The Tulsa women’s golf team secured an unexpected victory, shooting 15-over 879 and overcoming an eight-shot deficit heading into the final round to claim their second title of the season at the Nexus Collegiate Team Championship. Their rounds of 298-289-292 secured a three-shot win at Albany Golf Club in the Bahamas.
Kentucky and Iowa State finished T2 at 18-over 882. Kentucky posted rounds of 285-294-303 and Iowa State 292-290-300.
In the final round, Tulsa, who entered the final round in solo fourth place and trailing team leader Kentucky by eight strokes, turned the tide by posting a 4-over 292, outperforming Kentucky by 11 strokes and Iowa State by eight on the last day. This remarkable performance allowed Tulsa to overcome an eight-shot deficit to secure their second title of the season.
In the individual competition, North Texas senior Ellie Roth secured her inaugural individual title with a single-shot victory, posting rounds of 72-71-71 to conclude the event at 2-under 214.
Mississippi State freshman Avery Weed, Michigan senior Monet Chun, Laney Frye of Kentucky, and Illinois senior Isabel Sy all finished T2 at 1-under 213.
Weed carded rounds of 74-70-71, Chun posted scores of 74-69-72, Frye recorded 68-74-73, and Sy finished with rounds of 70-69-76 for the shared runner-up position.
Roth is currently ranked 262nd on the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com Women's Rankings.
Tulsa had three individuals finish among the top eleven, with sophomore Jenny Roller leading the way. She carded rounds of 73-72-72, securing a T6 finish at 1-over 217. Following up closely were redshirt freshman Allyn Stephens, securing a T9 position at 3-over, and sophomore Grace Kilcrease at T-11 with a score of 5-over.
Tulsa dominated the statistics on par-3s with an average of 3.12. Additionally, sophomore Jenny Roller claimed the top spot for the most birdies in the tournament, recording 15.
