Wave two of The San Francisco City Championship got underway Sunday at Presidio Golf Course in San Francisco, Calif.

The first wave of qualifying teed of on Saturday, with Keanu Phillips shooting a 1-over 73 to pace the field. However, he scored that number playing in the first group and suffering six penalty strokes due to lost balls plugging in the wet conditions.

WAVE TWO LEADER - Rod Kho of Belmont, Calif.
Overall Score: 7-over 79

Kho recorded three birdies in his round to be the only golfer in the second wave to break 80 with a 7-over 79. That score places him at T10 when added to the first-wave scores. He will face a player with a Tour name -- Joey Fowler -- in the first round of the top Open flight, aptly named for 3-time San Francisco City Champion Ken Venturi. Their match is Saturday, March 2.

ROUNDING OUT THE TOP FIVE

Edmond Yee of Redwood City, Calif., and Neil Slotterback of San Francisco, Calif., shot 8-over 80 to finish T2 in the second wave and T16 overall. Xavier Sy of San Francisco, Calif., and Jerry Cantin of San Francisco, Calif., shot 9-over 81 to finish T3 in the second wave and T20 overall. 

The first round of the San Francisco City Championship match play for flights one through five will be on Saturday, March 2nd, and the first round of match play for flights six through eight will be on Sunday, March 3rd. View match play brackets here.

ABOUT THE San Francisco City Open Flights

**Please note -- this is not the championship division or pre-qualifier. The Open Flights are for players not participating in the championship divisions and are open to all handicap levels.

Open to the first 128 entries received. No index is required. There will be no refunds after entries close. Contestants will play an 18-hole qualifying round at Lincoln Park on March 6th.

The qualifying scores will be used to assign flights of 16 players each, as well as the seeding for match play. In the case of ties, there will be a card-off to determine who advances to play in each flight.

Flights will play their first-round matches on Sat Mar 15 and second-round matches on Sun Mar 16.

Qualifying, as well as the first two Open Match Flight rounds (Sat- Sun Mar 2-3, Sat Mar 16, will be played at Lincoln Park. The semifinal (Sat Mar 22) and final (Sun Mar 23) rounds will be played at TPC Harding Park Golf Course.

WITHDRAWALS AND REFUND POLICY
Players needing to withdraw should do so by filling out the form at sfgolfchampionship.com/con tact/ . Players withdrawing before the entry deadline of February 18 will receive a refund of their entry fee minus $50. There will be no refunds after the entry deadline.

ABOUT THE SAN FRANCISCO CITY CHAMPIONSHIP
The oldest municipal tournament in the USA. Match play event with scratch men's, senior, women's, senior women's and open flight divisions. Past champions include Ken Venturi, Harvie Ward, Juli Inkster, Bob Rosburg, George Archer, and Dorothy Delasin. Some of the 'non winners' include Tom Watson and Johnny Miller.
