Southeastern Collegiate: Nova Southeastern wins team title

The Nova Southeastern Men’s Golf team, ranked No. 18 nationally, shot 12-under 852 with rounds of 282-283-287, securing the team championship at the First Federal Southeastern Collegiate Challenge at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta, Ga.
This marks their second team title for the 2023-2024 season, following their win at the Citrus Intercollegiate Invitational in October.
Georgia Southwestern shot rounds of 291-282-282 to register a runner-up finish at 9-under.
In the individual competition,
Michael Hay, a graduate student at Nova Southeastern and a recent winner at the
Matlock Collegiate Classic last month, achieved a total score of 7-under, securing co-medalist honors alongside Shorter University sophomore
Blake Henriques. Hay is currently ranked No. 346 in the
Golfweek/AmateurGolf World Rankings.

Florida Southern secures the team title by five shots
Henriques entered the final round, co-leading the field at 5-under and posted a final round of 2-under 70, compared to Hay's final round of 4-under 68, resulting in them sharing the lead. Henriques was later declared the winner through a playoff.
George Durkan, a junior from Lincoln Memorial, shot rounds of 68-71-72, securing a third-place finish at 5-under. He was closely followed by Georgia Southwestern junior Erik Fogel, who carded rounds of 73-66-73 for a fourth-place finish at 4-under par.
On the statistical front, Nova Southeastern led the field on Par 4s and 5s with scoring averages of 4.04 and 4.70, respectively. They also recorded the highest number of eagles, with 3, in the tournament. Additionally, Michael Hay tied for the best scoring average on par 4s at 3.90 with Trey Melvin from Lee University.
